Last week, a Reddit user posted an image of a World War II memorial in Brooklyn, New York, apparently vandalized by PewDiePie's fans. The vandals wrote "subscribe to PewDiePie" on the memorial, apparently as a way to promote the ongoing battle between the controversial YouTuber and the company-owned chain, T-Series, for first place on the site. Many media have covered the incident and PewDiePie has issued its own statement about it.
"It's disgusting," said PewDiePie in the latest episode of "Pew News," a series in which he discusses the news. "I do not think I have done anything to tolerate this kind of behavior," he continued. PewDiePie also explained how he had asked his fans to do nothing illegal by supporting him in his quarrel with T-Series, before adding, "I do not know why anyone had this idea in head. It's just stupid.
After condemning the degradation of the memorial of the Second World War, PewDiePie continues in the original version of the video to discuss a new development of war accounts subscribers between his chain and T-Series. Apparently, some Pakistanis would like to unsubscribe from T-Series and subscribe to PewDiePie, as T-Series was removing video clips featuring Pakistani artists. T-Series made this decision after the Pulwama terrorist attack on Feb. 14. India (where T-Series is based) has blamed Pakistan for the attack, although the country has denied any involvement.
This provoked negative reactions, prompting PewDiePie to visit Twitter to announce that he deleted the last segment of the video.
Posted to the latest news from Pew, I think it's clear that I did not mean anything in the broadest sense of what is happening between India and Pakistan. I was strictly speaking in the context of Tseries and artists being fooled, I just want it to be clear here. ✌️

PewDiePie seems to be in a controversy after the next. As he is the most subscribed YouTuber on the site and has even been named one of the most influential people in the world, this should not come as a surprise. PewDiePie generally apologizes for these incidents and tries to fix his mistakes through charities, although some critics claim more responsibility for the YouTube star given his massive audience.
Regardless of its controversy, PewDiePie has millions of loyal fans for a reason. And as long as he's able to continue supporting his channel with content that will please his fans and appeal to new fans with stunts like Meme Review on Elon Musk, it's likely PewDiePie will remain the first channel on YouTube in the near future.
