The third round of the PGA Tour Championship was underway Saturday at the East Lake Golf Club, when organizers suspended the game due to bad weather, the PGA said.
Nearly 30 minutes after the organizers' activities were suspended, lightning struck a tree and debris from the strike injured some people, the PGA said.
"The safety of our fans, players and partners is of utmost importance," the statement said.
All the game was suspended for the day in the end-of-season tournament in Atlanta with Justin Thomas in the lead, Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka. The tournament should resume Sunday morning.
