Phaedra Parks is a busy woman.
The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alumna, 47, has several careers as a lawyer, undertaker, producer and actress, but her most demanding job is being a mom to two boys.
“Life as a single mom is crazy, but I wouldn’t change it for the world,” Parks, 47, told Page Six in an exclusive interview, gushing about her sons Ayden, 11, and Dylan, 8, that she shares with her ex-husband. Apollo Nida. “They are my world.”
Fans last saw Parks’ children on television in 2017, the year she left “RHOA” after seven seasons. Ayden, also known as “Prince,” and Dylan, affectionately known as “Mr. President,” often stole the show with early statements and chic ensembles.

“Dylan is in third year and Ayden has just entered college. They are definitely polar opposites, ”she said. “Ayden is a lot like me in that he’s super charismatic and wants to be a lawyer. And then Dylan is super creative and loves the arts, which is the other side of me.
While their Atlanta home is “full of joy,” Parks noted that last year and over parenting has been a challenge as she has had to find ways to discuss the revived Black Lives Matter movement with her youngsters.
“It was very difficult because Ayden and Dylan go to a very elitist private school where they are in the minority,” she said. “A lot of people did not share our political views and it was very difficult to explain to them why it was important to fight against things like police brutality. There were some very interesting conversations that I thought I would never have with my kids because it feels so much like the 60s. ”
The star, who has taken her children to rallies for racial justice, explained: “I take them so that they are not only very much in touch with black culture, but also aware that there is a struggle for them. people and that not everyone lives as we do, they are very privileged.
To instill the importance of giving back to the less fortunate, Parks asks his boys to “cook meals for the elderly and the food insecure” during the holidays. “I never want their socio-economic status to disconnect them from reality. And they really love doing it with me.
Ayden and Dylan will be with mum this Sunday as she shops for a cause, attending Coresight Research’s second annual 10.10 Live Shopping Festival, benefiting organizations such as the American Heart Association and the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
“Being a woman, being a single mother, a divorcee, I know how important it is for women to be aware of what is going on with their bodies,” she said of giving back to organizations women-centered charities. “Sometimes we spend so much time helping everyone, mothering and doing everything else except taking care of ourselves. Personal care, whether medical, cosmetic or emotional, is so important.
Parks’ personal care routine these days includes making an appointment.
“I’m going out and having a good time,” said the TV personality, who split from actor Medina Islam earlier this year. (She finalized her divorce from 42-year-old Nida in 2017).
“People often ask me if I want to remarry. I’m looking for love but I’m not sure I want to remarry because I love dating, “she continued.” I love to have fun, I love to laugh, I love lavish gifts !
