As the ghost-hunting co-op horror game Phasmophobia just celebrated its first anniversary, developer Kinetic Games celebrated this milestone with the release of an all-new update that adds a single-player mode to the game.
The update, which was revealed in an article on Phasmophobia’s Steam update page, brings a number of changes to the game, ranging from small bug fixes to the more notable addition of a single player mode. For those of you brave enough to tackle the game’s many haunted locations without a save, the game’s new single-player experience allows players to play Phasmophobia without logging into its servers.
A number of other revisions were also made as part of the Anniversary Update. The journal has been revamped and made easier to use, and now allows players to cross out found evidence and change page settings. Adjustments to contracts will now mean that the payment amount received for failing a level will be rewarded based on the selected difficulty of the level, while failing a contract will now automatically show you what the type of ghost was.
New fonts have also been added to the game for multiple languages with missing characters, and the VR mute button has been remapped as a pause button for all controllers. Ghost Orbs that appear during certain Contracts will now periodically change their position in the room the ghost lives in, and players will no longer be able to see the ghost from the DOTS Projector if they have been killed.
Kinetic Games also took to the release of the update to thank their fans for their support of the game. “It has been an amazing year for Kinetic Games and Phasmophobia and I want to thank everyone for their incredible support,” reads. we in the message.
