In an effort to improve his golf game before one of the most important tournaments of the year, Phil Mickelson revealed via social media that he had recently resorted to a " absolute reset ".
The three-time Masters champion and former Arizona State champion said he lost 15 pounds during a recent six-day fast. Mickelson said he only consumed water and a special coffee mix during those six days and that he made a small retreat.
"In the last 10 days, I've been doing what I call an absolute reset to change and try to make things better," Mickelson said via his Twitter page Sunday while he was was preparing for the Open Championship in Northern Ireland this week. "I do not know if it will help me play better or not, but I'm ready to do whatever it takes to try to recover my best performance."
Mickelson hopes his recent fast and weight loss will help him win his second Open Championship. He won the tournament in 2013.
Let's be realistic for a minute. I have not been my best and I'm doing everything I can to get it right. I will soon have more discussions with Phireside and a new fun series. Until then, HIT ?
