After hitting his own ball twice at the US Open last year, Phil Mickelson managed to move his ball on the same shot.

In the second round at Pebble Beach, Mickelson imposed a shot at No. 10, which saw the ball run 313m before attracting an underdog.

Seagulls often confuse balls for eggs and Mickelson's ball attracted the attention of a seagull that hit her several times, moving her from her original position.

The commentators present had a little fun at the expense of the seagull after the hilarious episode.

"Uh, oh, where's my egg? Oh, it's here! It's not going to get that, is it?" he said.

After the ball was moved, Mickelson was allowed to take over without penalty and to place the ball as close as possible to the point of origin.

Mickelson then fired his second shot within 9.1m (30 feet) of the pin before tackling an 8m shot for a birdie on the hole.

The 48-year-old finished the day on 69 and is one of the least after two rounds, eight strokes ahead of leader Gary Woodland.
