Philadelphia homicide: Man shot dead while working on gun violence video at Strawberry Mansion

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Police in Philadelphia are trying to determine who shot and killed a man while he was working on a video about gun violence in the city.

It happened around 8 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of West Page Street in Strawberry Mansion.

“This 55-year-old man worked for a production company. They were inside a private residence. They were interviewing and filming family members whose children were victims of gun violence during the two to three years. past years, “said the Philadelphia Police Chief. Inspector Scott Small said.

Action News learns that the anti-violence video was being broadcast on Netflix.

The victim had left the home to get more equipment from his van when she was shot several times, authorities said.

He was taken to hospital by the police where he was pronounced dead.

The bag containing the production equipment was found on the sidewalk along with two cell phones, police said.

One reason is under investigation.

“We don’t know if it was theft, if his wallet and money were taken,” Small said.
It was the 119th homicide of the year in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia city council will hold a special committee Tuesday on gun violence prevention. The council wants to review the city’s strategic plan to combat gun violence and how to keep children safe.
