The shooter who shot his colleague on a Philadelphia cream The hospital fled Monday morning in a U-Haul truck before firing 76 bullets at police officers in a shooting, according to a report.
The suspect, Stacey Hayes, 55, was wearing scrubs when he shot her colleague six times on the ninth floor of Thomas Jefferson Teaching Hospital just after midnight, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said during a press conference.
Family members have identified the victim as Anrae James, 43, who is survived by his wife and three children, FOX 29 Philadelphia reported.

“He was working, earning a living honestly for his wife and three children and they get a call at 2 a.m. saying he was shot and killed on the job,” said his father, William James. “Right now, I’m not running on anything other than the strength of God… that’s all I have for now.”
Hayes fled the scene after the fatal shooting, police said. About an hour later, police received a report of a gunman in uniform outside a city high school.
When police arrived, Hayes, using an assault rifle, fired 76 shots at four officers, hitting two of them, according to FOX 29 reporter Steve Keeley, who cited police sources. All officers retaliated and Hayes was shot in the upper body and neck.
One officer, 30, suffered an elbow injury that will require surgery while the other officer, 32, was grazed on the face. The suspect and the agents should survive.

Authorities said the shooter was wearing full tactical armor during the shooting – and an AR-15 rifle and handgun were found at the scene, the station reported.
Over a hundred bullets also covered the lawn outside the school.
Hayes and the victim knew each other, although police have yet to officially reveal a motive.
After the shooting, the hospital issued a statement to FOX 29 stating that a “thorough review will take place to ensure best practices in our security protocols for all facilities in Jefferson.”

On Monday, the Philadelphia district attorney’s office laid several charges against Hayes, including murder and four counts of attempted murder of law enforcement officers, the station reported.
