The Flyers hope they don’t become walking casualties when they make their way to Boston.
In their fourth game of the season, the Flyers on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center saw two other players suffer apparent injuries.
Defenseman Philippe Myers did not go out with the Flyers for the second period. With just over two minutes to go into the first period, Myers joined Sabers defenseman Jake McCabe in a failure. Myers was last on the ice shortly after play, but did not return to the bench after the first intermission.
Morgan Frost, who entered the lineup Monday for injured Sean Couturier (costochondral separation), skated off the ice leaning with less than five minutes to go in the second period. Flyers’ sports medicine director Jim McCrossin tended to the 21-year-old cross as he slowly walked up the tunnel to the locker room, remaining bent over. Frost took a clumsy kick from McCabe behind the Sabers’ net before coming out.
Myers and Frost did not return to the bench early in the third period. The team did not have an immediate update on either player.
Shayne Gostisbehere missed the Flyers’ first four games due to COVID protocol. Mark Friedman is the Flyers’ eighth defenseman. Connor Bunnaman is currently the Flyers’ additional forward and could replace center if needed.
The Flyers face the Bruins Thursday and Saturday in Boston.
