The Discernment Council approves membership in ATC

The Discernment Council, a 44-member state arbitration body, approved Iran's accession to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (TAC ) in Southeast Asia. Members of the powerful Council met on Saturday to discuss the bill that was passed by Parliament but not ratified by the Guardian Council, the Mehr news agency reported.
Gordian Council, charged with ensuring the compatibility of laws with the Majlis the teachings of Islam and the Constitution, rejected the bill because of some shortcomings. The dispute between Parliament and the Guardian Council on the bill could not be resolved and in accordance with the law, the bill was referred to the Discernment Council. The TAC is a peace treaty among the Southeast Asian countries established by the founding members of ASEAN, a geopolitical and economic organization of 10 countries located in Southeast Asia. According to the ASEAN website, the treaty aims to promote perpetual peace, eternal friendship and cooperation among their peoples, which would contribute to their strength, solidarity and closer relations.
