The all-new Jeep Wrangler receives the new MultiJet II turbo-diesel
After making its world debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, it is the turn of European market to receive the all-new Jeep Wrangler. Designated as the JL, the fourth-generation SUV has been the subject of an evolutionary overhaul and many new technologies.
At its initial launch in the United States, the JL Wrangler was only available with a Pentastar V6 3.6-liter or 2.0-liter turbo inline-four. Now, the company has unveiled a brand new diesel engine for Europe.
No more JL Wrangler's 2.8-liter turbo-diesel. It is a new 2.2 liter multi-cylinder aluminum plant MultiJet II. Although it is significantly smaller than its predecessor, the engine generates a power of 200 hp at 3000 rpm and a torque of 450 Nm at 2000 rpm. In Europe, the Wrangler is only available with an eight-speed automatic transmission connected to a 4WD system. For better fuel economy, the engine is also equipped with automatic stop technology
Regarding the specifications, the Euro Wrangler gets the same level of equipment as in the United States. version. This means that it can be specified with LED headlights and taillights, as well as a wide variety of wheel models that are available in sizes of 17 and 18 inches. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will arrive in Europe in September and will be available in three versions; Sport, Sahara and Rubicon. In addition, the Wrangler may also be specified in limited or unlimited body styles
It is highly likely that the JL Wrangler diesel engine will also be offered in other markets outside of Europe.
