MANILA, Philippines – BuyBust by Erik Matti was chosen as the opening film of the Cinemalaya 2018 and will be screened following the festival's opening ceremonies Cinemalaya made the announcement on their Facebook page on August 21st.

The film is expected to release in Filipino cinemas nationally on August 1, but has already been screened in the United States, Canada and South Korea. His first on the red carpet will take place on July 22 in Cebu and July 23 in Manila.

BuyBust stars Anne Curtis as a narcotraficant recruit who joins an elite squad for the drug fight as part of a buyout operation. Following the 14-year tradition of Cinemalaya, the entrance is free for the inauguration and the screening to be held at the Cultural Center of the Philippine Main Theater

Viewers may need to line up early, as places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who hold All Access passes will have a priority entry.
