The surprise character of 2017 Justice League was to be Jason Momoa's Aquaman. He's next for his own solo film, and with his trailer at San Diego Comic Con, we've dug through for all the clues, clues and references we could find.
Throughout the trailer, we can see vast departure from most previous DCEU films other than Wonder Woman, emphasizing bright colors and a high adventure tone. We wrote in detail about what happened in the making of this film here.
The trailer begins by cementing the origin of Aquaman. Arthur Curry has been since the age of money the half-human, mid-Atlantean son of New England's lighthouse keeper Tom Curry and Atlantean Queen Atlanna (Atlanna was not a queen before the restarting the New 52, but no matter)
Here we see Nicole Kidman's Atlanna holding a baby Arthur presumably with her father.
When he was created by Mort Weisinger and Paul Norris in 1941, he could only speak with fish. It is only at the age of money that his power has evolved to telepathically communicate with them. It is useful in aquaria full of bullies, as we have seen in the trailer.
Yellow eyes when he uses his power are new to me. I have not seen it before. But what's really cool is that if you listen carefully, you can here the "vuu-vuu-vuu-vuu" brand made famous by its animated adventures on shows like Super Friends . , is a fairly classic Aquaman picture construction. Arthur surrounded by a crowd of angry fish ready to attack.
Movie Arthur seems to be the kind of guy who would explode unwelcome in a submarine while blasting "I'm On A Boat" from a waterproof speaker.
Amber Heard's Mera seems straight out of the comic book, up to the use of digital coloring on his hair: hisses:
Mera was created in the 60's as the eventual bride of Arthur. She was originally the queen of the Atlantean Ghost Zone, but her origin (and birthplace) has changed slightly several times since, and now she's just the former queen of an area that housed the worst criminals of Atlantis. She is hydrokinetic – she is basically a waterbender, but the most badass of existence.
Patrick Wilson plays Orm Marius, half-brother of Aquaman and regular pretender to the throne of Atlantis. Ocean Master was also created in the early 60's. Over the years, it has gone from tech user to magician of magic to 'extremely strong even for an Atlantean', and it seems like we could have a little in this movement

The influence of Geoff Johns in this trailer is strong, and this seems to be a former king of Atlantis, and he brandishes the classic trident here. This story appeared in the story of "Death of a King" by Geoff Johns and Paul Pelletier
. Atlantis is not real, so its construction should be limited only by the imagination. One has the impression that James Wan, the director, understood that and that he rolls with it.
There is still this damn pentadent. It looks like it's a clash between Arthur and Orm, and Arthur, I think, is holding the five-pointed fork, while Orm has all three points.
Protip: It does not really work. At least with swords.

The swarm that follows the red light is The Trench , a race of Atlanteans who, when Atlantis was sunk, fell into a deep trench in the ocean and adapted their bodies and their society to integrate. They are … monstrous, and they are not pleasant.

Black Manta (who looks Amazing by the way) is played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and I hope he's also threatening and important in the movie as it is in the trailer. Manta was created in the late 60's by Haney and Nick Cardey. He is mainly just an ordinary person in a crazy fighting costume with a grudge against Aquaman.
