The brain of "Hamilton" Lin-Manuel Miranda is perhaps the most hardworking and most requested man of Hollywood. How many television and film projects are currently underway? Let's see:
1) On Friday, Miranda was announced with James McAvoy and Ruth Wilson in the BBC's upcoming series "His Dark Materials", based on bestsellers by British author Philip Pullman.
2) Just three days ago, it was announced that Miranda would be executive producing a limited FX series based on the lives of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon with Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams tied as leads.
3) Last week, Variety announced that he would make his feature film debut with "Tick, Tick … Boom", based on production of the 2014 scene on "Rent" playwright Jonathan Larson.
4) Spectators will see star Emily Blunt in another Disney feature film, the upcoming "Mary Poppins Returns," tilting just in time for Christmas on December 19th.
5) His other film projects include "Vivo", an animated feature film for Sony Animation, on which he is attached as a composer. The film is scheduled for November 6, 2020.
6) On June 26, 2020, Warner Bros will release the film version of Miranda's musical "In the Heights", which won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical. Miranda wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway production and starred in earning a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a musical. 7) Another ongoing project is the adaptation by Lionsgate of "The Kingkiller Chronicle", based on the classic Pat Rothfuss. novels, which will be directed by Sam Raimi. The studio called on Miranda in 2016 to become a creative producer and musical mastermind of the feature film and TV Showtime adaptations.
8) In another collaboration with Disney, Miranda produced and wrote songs for Disney's reboot. He told NPR in 2017 that he had seen the animated version of 1989 three times in cinemas when he was a kid.
9) Finally, movie studios would be in a bidding war to buy a recording of a live performance of "Hamilton", the musical that has skyrocketed Miranda to stardom. But he will not have to do extra work for that one – it's a filmed version of one of the first performances of the hit musical.
Miranda also composed the score for "Moana" and received an Oscar nomination for the song "How Far I Go Go." Miranda was not available to comment.
