The film will be co-produced by Knight and Frank Marshall.
Netflix opted for the production rights of a biopic on the founder and former CEO of Phil Knight Shoe Dog the streaming service announced on Friday.
Frank Marshall will produce alongside Knight, while Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski ( The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story and Ed Wood ) will adapt the book for the 39; screen.
Marshall and Knight met for the first time in the 1980s on the set of Back to the Future. Marshall also produced hits like The Sixth Sense series Indiana Jones and the series Jason Bourne "I've always been fascinated by Phil's story and how the company has become, "said Marshall. This is not the first experience of Netflix with sports documentaries. Netflix and ESPN worked together to produce The Last Dance a 2019 documentary series chronicling Michael Jordan's career in the '90s with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan first signed a shoe contract with Nike in 1984.
