Star Wars fans wiped tears last week after learning that Carrie Fisher would look good in JJ Abrams & # 39; Episode IX . Mark Hamill and Fisher's family have been weighting on the news … and if you'll excuse me, I may have something in my eye again.
Last Friday, Disney announced the full distribution of Star Wars: Episode IX which sees the return of Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. However, the biggest news has been that Disney and Lucasfilm predicted that the late Carrie Fisher will appear in the next film. They specified that it would materialize through some unused footage Abrams shot for The Awakening of the Force rather than recast or make a complete recreation of the actress by CGI.
Yesterday Hamill, who shared the time of the screen with Fisher The Last Jedi shared his "bittersweet" feelings on Twitter and Instagram on the set of last film of the saga Skywalker without his sister on the screen:
It's bittersweet facing my last chapter without her – it is simply irreplaceable. I find comfort in the fact that she will not be replaced and would like the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news. #CarrieOnForever
Co-star John Boyega echoed his feelings by saying Hamill on Twitter "We will get through his father."
With the announcement, Abrams said the production was blessed to use images of Fisher's daughter, Billie Heavy, who eagerly shared the news on his Instagram.
Other family members also support this decision. Fisher's brother, Todd Fisher, was the one who revealed last year that Episode IX could present unused images of his sister. Now that the news has finally become official, Todd has published a statement, published by the Los Angeles Times, noting how "delighted" it is for fans to see Leia again:
I could not be more personally delighted and happy that our Carrie resumes her role of Princess Leia in the new and last Star Wars: Episode IX using unpublished images of her shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens [19659005] While we, her family, and her extended family of fans around the world believe, Carrie's Princess Leia is still rooted in the franchise and her indelible presence is fundamental to the film.
Star Wars: Episode IX sees the return of Heavy (who plays Lieutenant Connix), along with Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong's, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, and Joonas Suotamo. Among the new actors joining the cast of Episode IX are Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant and Keri Russell. Abrams co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio and Episode IX starts filming this week.
