REFLECTION TODAY (19659003) MATTHEW 13: 44-46

Jesus said to his disciples, "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, that a person finds and hides again, and out of joy will sell all he's got and buys this field.Once, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant at the looking for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he will sell everything he has and buys. "

REFLECTION

TRESOR … PEARL. The twin parables of a treasure buried in a field and a pearl of great price show the fascination of the Kingdom of God for the people who found them. They make great efforts to secure the treasure, and they remain restless until they possess it.

Fascination has almost the effect of the ring on Gollum in J.R.R. The Lord of the Rings of Tolkien, only this time in the positive sense. The researcher of this treasure lets go of no matter what or anyone that can prove to be an obstacle. Externally, the researcher may be considered "crazy".

Jesus himself is considered such by his loved ones because he left behind the safety of his family and his occupation in Nazareth to become a traveling preacher. Because of the crowd to serve, it is almost impossible for Jesus and his disciples to eat (see Mark 3: 20-21). But the "food" of Jesus is to do the will of the Father who sent him. Nothing can ever equal the Kingdom of Heaven. Anyone who discovers the Kingdom and knows its true worth will immediately do what is necessary to obtain it.

The earthly treasures keep the heart to the ground. Celestial treasures leave the heart unbound.
