Roman Reigns says that he is thankful for the support of the wrestling community.

"Thank you to everyone who's reached out … I can not put into words what it means to me. Your energy and positivity motivates me to get better in the ring, but for now I'm going to spend time with my family and focus on health, "Reigns wrote on Twitter.

"Thank you – Joe / Roman," he reciprocated.

Reigns, whose real name is Joe Anoa'i, stunned the Providence, Rhode Island crowd by breaking character to announce that he's surrendering the Universal Title. He apologized to the fans for not being able to fulfill his role as a "fighting champion."

The 33-year-old also revealed that he was originally diagnosed with the disease back in 2008 at age 22. Reigns claimed that he quickly went into remission but "unfortunately it's back."

WWE.com noted that Reigns took "his battle with leukemia public" to be able to raise awareness and funds for disease research.

Reigns, who was featured in the past WrestleMania main events, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman at the controversial Crown Jewel event. As Reigns takes a break from the game, Lesnar and Strowman will proceed in a singles match for the strap.
