Hennessey isn’t the only company pumping pickup trucks full of more righteous, American horsepower than they can or were indeed designed to handle. Roush is at it, too, and this is its latest creation—the appropriately named, grammatically irritating ‘Roush F-150 Nitemare.’
To the standard 5.0-liter V8, the Michigan-based tuner has fitted a hefty supercharger, which, along with calibration changes, means the motor now makes 650hp and 880Nm. No doubt that makes the truck indecently rapid. At least for something that weighs as much as Belgium.
Roush then adds either a cat-back or switchable active exhaust, whose loud, quiet, and custom modes can be changed with a mobile phone app or knob on the dash. Various aesthetic modifications—mostly stickers and badges, plus a custom grille—round out the $16,999 (P1.18 million) option package, which comes with a three-year/580,000km warranty and is available through select Ford main dealers.
Yes, main dealers. But only in the good ol’ US of A, mind. Can you imagine this thing trundling down Broadway high street? Thought not.
