ABS-CBN biggies in full support of Songbird’s next concert
There’s finally a ceasefire on social media, at least from Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez- side, who for a time was unable to hold back her feelings over bashers accusing her an ingrate for leaving GMA Network for ABS-CBN after 20 long years.
Engaging the most acerbic of bashers with very sharp replies herself, she said in an interview over the weekend that she since kept quiet on social media and has proceeded to consult with experts on her next step.
“I’m very much aware of the Anti-Cyber Bullying Law and I’m now even more informed on the legal actions I can take against bashers and those who bully a person online. I’m in the process of doing something more than that actually but and that’s all I’m willing to say about the issue now,” the 48-year-old singer-actress declared.
All the while citing her desire to work with Kapamilya artists as her main reason for finally accepting ABS-CBN’s longstanding invitation to join them — not the money or the issue of which network is really on top — Velasquez neither has need to reiterate the point any longer because her upcoming concert is proof enough.
For come November 17, 24 and 24 at the New Frontier Theater (formerly Kia Theater), no less than ABS-CBN’s big named stars will emerge as her nightly guests on stage.
“Piolo Pascual, Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Daniel Padilla will each have a night as my guest in ‘Regine at the Movies’,” the Songbird excitedly replied, clearly determined to look forward at the upcoming career highlights she is about to enjoy.
“If they want to watch all three shows mas maganda,” she laughed, “kasi every night is going to have a different theme and therefore different movie theme songs in the repertoire. In other words, hindi ako mag-uulit ng kanta in any of the three shows.”
This particular trio of concerts is in a way an extension of her last, successful mini-series that was theater-themed. With the feature on movies this time, the concept will allow her to sing songs that go from her own movies to animated films from Disney and Pixar, James Bond, classic films from the Henry Mancini era, forever favorites like “Pretty Woman” and even several themes from Barbra Streisand films.
Proving too that she is a grateful person, Velasquez said that her longtime sponsors, PLDT Home, the Belo Medical Group and GAOC Dental are supporting her for Regine at the Movies series, as well as her new home ABS-CBN.
“I’m so thankful they’ve stayed with me through and again, I’m really very excited to finally share the stage with my Kapamilyas!” she ended.
Regine at the Movies is directed by Paolo Valenciano with musical direction by Raul Mitra.
