Actress Keanna Reeves arrested for cyberlibel

SEXY actress and reality television star Keanna Reeves (born Janet Derecho Duterte) was arrested on the eve of November 12 for a cyberlibel case by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

Based on the warrant issued on November 7 by Judge Maria Florencia Baculo of the Laguna Trial Court Branch 34, Reeves violated the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 by allegedly posting negative remarks against complainant Nancy Dimaranan, a businesswoman, during a Facebook live session.

Reeves, who was arrested along Timog Avenue corner Scout Ybardolaza in Quezon City as she was getting out of her condominium unit, was brought to the CIDG Laguna regional office for documentation and booking procedure.

Judge Baculo issued a P200,000 bail for Reeves’ temporary liberty.

Reeves’ last TV role was on GMA Network’s “Juan Happy Love Story” in 2016, which starred Dennis Trillo and Heart Evangelista. Reeves played the role of Evelyn in the drama comedy series. She was the winner in the ABS-CBN “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition” in 2006 where Rustom Padilla publicly confessed about his true sexual identity.

Based on Article 353 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines, libel is “a public and malicious imputation of a crime, or of a vice or defect, real or imaginary, or any act, omission, condition, status, or circumstance tending to cause the dishonor, discredit, or contempt of a natural or juridical person, or to blacken the memory of one who is dead.” NIKA ROQUE
