Audi unveiled the latest special edition of its flagship R8 supercar. Called Sport Performance Parts R8 Edition, this limited edition model will cost 176,560 pounds (about Rs 1.60 crore). The Sport Performance Parts R8 gets a brand new suite of aerodynamic upgrades for better strength and suspension for cornering assistance and a new exclusive Body-Kit. Audi said they would only manufacture 44 copies of the R8 Sport Performance Parts.
According to Audi, the Sport Performance Parts body kit is able to produce more support than a standard body on an R8. The aerodynamic support produced by cars at 330kmph is 250kgs, 100kgs more than the standard R8.
Aero additions also include carbon fiber reinforced plastic accessories that are also new, among others. The special edition also receives a front splitter and air vents, side skirts, and a rear diffuser, with a huge spoiler that is fixed and adds to the aerodynamic support.
The Performance Parts R8 body kit takes a lot of inspiration from the Le Mans LMX with plenty of aerodynamics and a fixed spoiler.
Audi has also equipped lightweight wheels to reduce unsprung mass. The suspension is now equipped with three-way adjustable coil springs, the brakes now having a ceramic front disc and a titanium support plate. The exhaust also receives titanium components.
The interior remains more or less the same, with very small differences. This is the latest addition to the growing list of R8 limited edition models that also includes RWS RWS rear-wheel drive.
