Bretman shakes Darna costume for Halloween

MANILA. Philippines – Bretman Rock, a Filipino-American social media personality, has once again made his name online by donning the beloved costume of Filipino superhero Darna in this year's Halloween.

Rock, born in Ilocano, said he chose Darna as his costume because he always identified with her considering the superheroine's personality.

He also described Darna as "an image of a strong Filipina woman".

"This year, I wanted to pay tribute to My Filipino Superhero – Darna," Rock wrote on his Instagram post.

"As I grew up, I watched all her shows and films and I always identified with her," he added.

Darna is a fictional character of female superhero created by comic artist Mars Ravelo. Her human form is Narda, known for having swallowed a magical white stone as she turns into a fierce superhero dressed in a sexy two-piece red and gold outfit shouting "Darna!"

Rock, known for being an influencer of beauty and for his humorous messages, has posted a video of him showing his Darna suit on his social networking accounts. He even used Kamikazee's "Narda" as background music to create the super-heroine costume.

Since then, the video has been viewed more than 1.7 million times on Instagram, more than 133,000 times on Facebook and more than 780,000 on Twitter.
