Canary, manufacturer of connected home security cameras, has announced a "security button" for smartphones to give iOS users extra insurance outside the home

designed to automatically contact the local police, while sending them a location within 5 seconds, which is a huge improvement over the "6 minutes" that a 911 medium call requires to determine "only 50-300 meters accuracy" , according to Canary.

The "security button" (powered by Noonlight) does not even require the user to speak, they simply need to maintain the button for the coordinates – with a precision of about 5 meters (16 feet) – to send to

Once you feel safe, the button may be released and a PIN code is entered, however, if the button is released and no pin has entered , help is on the way. The company notes that the police are sent in all situations, however, if an ambulance or fire truck is needed, they need a text or voice message.

The feature, currently only available to iOS users in the United States, Apple recently announced a similar feature coming up with the iOS 12 update, as part of the company's mission to provide the services emergency "the best available technology" to improve response time by securely sharing location data.
