KOTA KINABALU: A curfew in the seven districts of the Eastern Security Zone of Sabah (ESSZone) that was to end at 6 pm today will be extended until the end of the day. August 14th.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din said the curfew was covering waters off Tawau, Semporna, Kunak, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Sandakan and Beluran.

He added that with the extension, the inhabitants of the area had been ordered to stay inside. They were not allowed to enter the waters from 6 pm to 6 am during the period

Ramli stated that the curfew had been extended so that the terrorists could not enter the waters . He added that on the basis of information, he said that the group of Abu Sayyaf and those who perpetrated kidnappings were tourists on the resort islands

. He said the curfew should facilitate the application and monitoring of vessel movements as well as creating a safe environment for cottage operators. and fishermen in the area with the presence of security vessels and personnel in the vicinity.
