David Guetta shares his formula for success

David Guetta, a Grammy award-winning producer and DJ, says success depends mainly on hard work and luck, not talent.

The 50-year-old French artist, who feels "very full as a man and as an artist", attributes his longevity to his persistent work ethic, adding that he thought that the formula for success was "a talent of 20%, probably work 70% and 10% of luck."

Guetta has released the album, 7, in September. His last album was 2014 Listening.

Despite 7 being his seventh album, he said that the title of the album had a deeper meaning.

"Seven, it's like a full week, seven days to create the world in the Bible. And I feel like [I’m] start a new cycle in my life, "he said. "It's actually a similar feeling … [to] when I made my first album, it's a great place. "

In an interview, Guetta explained how he stays healthy on the road, the energetic energy of live performances and his new album, which features collaborations with Justin Bieber, Sia, Nicki Minaj, J. Balvin, Bebe Rexha and Martin Garrix, among others.

How was it to collaborate again with Nicki Minaj and Sia?

Nicki Minaj and Sia, they are like partners of yesteryear. I really appreciate that they are so loyal to me. I think we made records that really changed lives together. And I feel that they have become such stars and I think it's amazing that they are always there for me and that they really appreciate it.

You have a crazy schedule. How to stay healthy with such a hectic lifestyle?

Yes, it's sometimes a little too much. I'm not going to lie, because at the moment, I do one city a day. That's a lot. But this is the life I chose and it makes me very happy. I have the best job in the world. So, I do not want to complain. Each job has a small inconvenience and the time difference will probably be the biggest inconvenience of my job. And even after all these years, I still did not know how to beat jet lag. But yes, it's very small compared to all the amazing things that accompany my work.

If you play Ibiza, for example, are you carried away by the energy of the public?

Obviously, when you go on stage, it's like a huge adrenaline rush, because you're getting all that energy, all that love. It's really crazy because in my entire career, I canceled only two shows, it was twice because of the plane, not because of me. It does not matter if I'm sick, have [a] the fever, I always do it. And I can really tremble with [a] the fever of the moment, I go on stage everything is gone. It's like magic because you get so much energy that you know, it's just crazy and it makes you addicted. You know, that's probably what allows me to go to the studio. You know, I think a lot of new producers, DJs … start out being producers and then because they have a successful album [the] stage and become a DJ. For me, it's the opposite. I go to the studio because when I make music, I imagine the moment when I'm going to drop this album. And the incredible feeling of happiness … [is] which makes me want to work these 16 hours a day, sometimes in the studio.

Is it worth having friends in the industry?

Well, we always travel for not having a family life or a normal social life, so we create a new family. We all do festivals, we usually play in the same places during the summer … it's like a festival circuit. So that's what happens. We have created a new music family and yes, it's great. It's good.

Is there anyone else you really want to work with?

There are many people I want to work with. I would love to work with Adele, which I have never done. But at the same time, the biggest dream is probably to find a new Sia. Someone who knows how to write and sing and who is unknown and we can develop something together. It's really the ultimate dream.
