DOLE to simplify conditions of assistance to displaced workers in Boracay

The Ministry of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said it would simplify the terms of financial aid intended for formal sector workers displaced by the closure of the island of Boracay to Aklan.

DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III stated that displaced and suspended workers who will benefit from the Boracay Employment Program Emergency Program (BEEP-AMP) only need submit one or two requirements.

Initially, the program included four requirements: an application form, a photocopy of the employment certificate, a photocopy of any government issued identification and proof of the Land Bank's account. from the Philippines. The documents must be submitted to the DOLE Regional Office or to one of its field offices.

The secretary announced that he would give a ministerial order to formalize the simplified requirements.

As part of the BEEP-AMP, suspended and displaced workers will receive P4,205.50 monthly support of up to six months in addition to facilitation of employment and training.

The successful employees will receive a lump sum of 6,308.25 pesos covering three months of assistance or P2 102.75 per month.

Workers in the sector and Indigenous Peoples (IPs) affected by the closure of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay program its Disadvantaged Advantage / Displaced Workers (TUPAD). It provides emergency jobs in a form of community work for 30 days.

The secretary also assured that they would speed up the release of these aids.
