A new law allowing expatriate workers covered by labor legislation to leave the country without an exit permit entered into force yesterday.

In accordance with the amendment, Article 7 of Law No. 21 of 2015 has been replaced by a provision stating that an expatriate worker covered by Labor Law No. 14 of 2004 has the right to leave the country temporarily or at any time during his stay. the duration of his employment contract without an exit permit.
The International Labor Organization and several diplomats from the country, representing different countries, have welcomed this initiative.
Qatar's official news agency (QNA) said the Interior Ministry (MoI) had started yesterday to apply the amendment to Article 7 "concerning the cancellation of the travel permit notice. of the law n ° 21 of 2015 concerning the entry and the exit of the expatriates and their residence ".
The director of the airport's passport department, Colonel Mohamed Rashid al-Mazroui, confirmed that the Ministry of the Interior, under simplified procedures and travel to the country's ports, had begun to apply the amended law regarding the cancellation of the travel permit notification yesterday in the early hours.
He added that these measures had been implemented as part of the implementation and implementation of recent amendments to Law No. 21 of 2015 stipulating that expatriates working under the said labor right to leave the country temporarily or permanently for the duration of the employment contract.
An employer has the right to submit in advance to the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) the list of employees that it deems necessary to obtain its prior authorization before leaving the country, because of the nature of their work. The percentage of these workers must not exceed 5% of the total number of employees.
He noted that the movements of entry and exit via Hamad International Airport (HIA) were proceeding normally with all the facilities provided to ensure smooth movement at the passport counters and electronic gates of the city.
