Canadian singer-songwriter Sine'ad O'Connor has converted to Islam and changed her name to Shuhada 'Davitt. The 51-year-old took to Twitter to make the announcement of her conversion. "This is to announce that I am proud to have become a Muslim. This is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian's journey. All scripture study leads to Islam. Which makes all other redundant scriptures. I will be given (another) new name. It will be Shuhada ', "she tweeted.
Since her conversion, O'Connor has harped several posts and pictures about her new faith. O'Connor is known for her singing success in 1990 with her cover 'Nothing Compares 2 U', written by the late Prince.
In 1999, Davitt was ordained as a priest by the Irish Orthodox Catholic and Apostolic Church – a group officially not affiliated with the Catholic Church, which does not allow the ordination of women as priests, the Guardian reported. She had become "disillusioned with Catholicism" by the child abuse scandals in the church that had erupted, the same report stated.

O'Connor also shared a video of her singing the Azan and then tweeted, "Sorry re all the mistakes in my Azan …. 1st attempt. When I've been practicing it 30 times I'm gonna make the world stop turning. "

Many people encouraged Davitt on her decision and expressed her happiness that the singer was able to find peace in her faith. However, many wondered why the singer had to change her name.
Dear S. Davitt, I'm happy you've found the truth that will hopefully bring peace to you.
Incidentally I think it's better that you do not change your name. Being a Muslim does not require getting an Arabic name. Peace be upon you

However, many slammed the singer for mocking other religions in her tweet.
I love when irrelevant people insult whole groups of other people with the announcement of their conversion. "Natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian," the Muslim is unintelligent. But like this, you're irrelevant to most of the world.

To every mother, her baby is the most beautiful thing in the whole planet. But a sensitive mother would never say that loud out of respect for other mothers.

I have known many, many "intelligent theologians," and the idea that "any" religion represents a "natural conclusion" to a whimsical journey.
I'm glad you're happy, but do not assume everyone will reach the same conclusion.
