IT is common nowadays to encounter revolutionary and innovative technological solutions, from artificial intelligence and machine learning applied in various industries, such as health care and human resources, to blockchain and cryptocurrencies that promise to make financial services more inclusive. One of the world’s largest tech companies, Microsoft, is making sure that its partners are equipped to drive innovation in this age of digital transformation.
One of these companies is HomeSpace360, a start-up that aims to democratize virtual-reality technology in the real-estate industry. One might describe this company as a trailblazer, but on the contrary, HomeSpace360’s objective is much simple—it aims to make VR technology more accessible and less intimidating to real-estate professionals, so they can use this immersive and effective technology to drive their sales.
According to HomeSpace360 CEO and Founder Simon Gemayel, technology has the tendency to be expensive and intimidating. And one cannot blame real-estate professionals to look at VR technology in a similar way. Although 3D virtual tours of properties are more engaging and generate more clicks, they come at a price: 3D cameras are expensive, complex and are very time-consuming to operate. This gave Gemayel the idea to utilize ubiquitous smartphone technology to create, share, and display 360 content in 2D and 3D, at a fraction of the cost.
“Technology is the great equalizer,” said Gemayel. “We want to enable all [real-estate brokers and professionals] by democratizing immersive virtual tours through user-friendly technology, and to make high-quality virtual tours within the reach of every real-estate seller.”
A simple kit is all it takes
During its launch held recently in Bonifacio Global City, Gemayel presented HomeSpace360’s all-in-one service for creating high-quality 8K 2D and 3D photographic and video VR experiences directly on a smartphone. He describes this service as an end-to-end automated system that offers real-estate sellers and marketers a solution for quickly and inexpensively capturing, distributing, and visualizing properties in 2D and 3D on Web, mobile and VR.
According to Gemayel, real-estate brokers and marketers who will subscribe to HomeSpace360 will be provided a kit that contains everything they need to create and share high-quality 360 virtual tours immediately. This kit includes a mobile VR viewer, battery-free smartphone rotator, light-weight tripod with carrying bag and an HD fisheye lens for 3D capture that can be attached to a smartphone—basically everything that’s needed to create immersive 2D and 3D virtual tours of any space.
What makes this technology robust is that it is built on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, which eliminates the need to real-estate marketers to build their own web site or platform if they want to include immersive virtual tour in their marketing arsenal. According to Gemayel, once a 2D or 3D virtual tour is done, a real-estate broker will get a link, which they can embed on their web site like a YouTube video, or share it on their social-media pages.
“With our technology, marketers can easily transport their clients to 10, 20, even 30 properties in an hour,” added Gemayel.
“It’s exciting to see partners like HomeSpace360 create democratizing solutions to today’s problems with Microsoft technology,” said Eileen Ong, Microsoft’s director for Commercial Partners and Small Medium Corporate Business Units. “HomeSpace360 is one of the companies that are at the center of digital transformation as they continue to enable our customers to achieve more.”
Ricky Kapur, general manager for enterprise operations of Microsoft Philippines, agreed. “A recent survey shows that 86 percent of all CEOs see that digital transformation is critical for growth.” He added that the Philippine economy can increase by $8 billion in four years through digital transformation.
For as low as P1,500 per month, a real-estate broker and marketer can subscribe to HomeSpace360. This package already includes the abovementioned kit plus up to 15 2D and 3D virtual tours per month using their platform.
