I f you are a Pixel user, you may want to check on your unlimited photo storage. Recently, a bug is raging among Google Pixel devices that accounts for storage according to your storage limits in Google Photos.
When launching Pixel 2 and Pixel XL, Google promised free and unlimited storage for high quality images exclusively for Pixel users. Apparently, if you have a custom ROM installed, Google Photos may work differently.
Apparently, a bug in Google Photos causes storage issues in ROM-based custom Pixel devices. And the problem is simply the result of a typo in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The Google camera application in the custom ROM improperly labeled "google" instead of "Google" and the build scripts in AOSP for Pixel devices were set to "Google" by default.
The bug was first discovered by a senior member of the XDA developers who then sent a correction to the AOSP on July 3. It is important to note that this bug only affected Pixel users who had custom ROMs installed on their devices.
Many ROM manufacturers have already fixed the error, so you can update the latest firmware to get rid of the error
