LONDON • Singer Liam Gallagher (above), 45, wants to be reconciled with his brother and former member of the Oasis Noel Orchestra, almost 10 years after the split of the famous British rock band

. ] "Earth at Christmas … I forgive you now bring back the BIG O (Oasis) …" he said in a tweet last Thursday night.

He did not tag his 51-year-old brother the note and Noel does not follow Liam on social media.

After no sign of a Christmas response, Liam tweeted last Friday: "I will take this as a NO then as you were."

Formed in 1991, Oasis dominated the British pop chart over the next decade with catchy Beatles-influenced songs combined with a hard-hitting, boastful image.

Regarded as a mainstay of the Britpop movement, it was a huge success in the 1990s and sold some 50 million records. But the fighting between the two brothers tormented the group that separated in August 2009 after a violent dispute a few moments before the group arrived on stage in Paris.

The two brothers have pursued a solo musical career since the separation of Oasis. Liam formed and led a new band, Beady Eye, which disbanded after releasing two albums. He went solo after that. Noel has embarked on a solo career under the name of High Flying Birds of Noel Gallagher.

The brothers have been involved in public ranks since 2009 because relations between them remain turbulent. In an interview with the BBC in November last year, Noel vowed never to play with his brother again.
