KELSEY Merritt made history on Nov. 8 as the very first Filipina to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway. Many Filipinos have expressed how proud they are of the Pinay model, including Kapamilya star and Kelsey’s friend Liza Soberano.
In an interview with Liza at the ABS-CBN station ID shoot on Sunday, Nov. 11, the actress shared that she once encouraged Kelsey to try out for Victoria’s Secret.
“I am extremely happy for her. Before when we were shooting [for a brand], we were very excited because she was telling me she was going to New York to pursue her modeling career there and I was like, ‘You should audition for Victoria’s Secret. I can imagine you walking on the ‘Pink’ fashion show.’ She was like. ‘Yeah, yeah that’s the goal.’ All of the sudden we found out that she was doing Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” Liza relayed.
The actress wished for Kelsey’s continued success and for her friend to have her very own VS wings someday just like VS angels Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel, Alessandra Ambrosio, among others.
“I am so happy because ever since I am a young girl I always watch Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and of course I kinda looked up to the models as well and it’s like she’s living every little Victoria Secret fans’ dream and I am really happy for her and I hope tuloy-tuloy. I hope she becomes an angel and gets her own huge wings in the future,” Liza said. (Push)
