ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city government has purchased 200 baggage carts worth PHP 3.6 million for the use of inbound and outbound passengers at Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA).

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar led Monday the transfer of the luggage trolleys to the director of the international airport of Zamboanga, Antonio Alfonso.

Salazar said the luggage trolleys, at a cost of 18,000 PHP each, are made of aluminum alloy with a weight of 250 kg. capacity each and equipped with automatic platforms.

"This is our contribution to ensuring that Zamboanga International Airport will be able to meet the needs of air passengers to carry their luggage," she said.

On October 22, some 200 baggage carts purchased by the Philippine Civil Aviation Authority (CAAP) arrived at the ZIA from Manila.

The ABCP purchased the 200 baggage carts following a representation and request from the 1st District Representative, Celso Lobregat, at the CAAP Central Office and Secretary of Transportation, Arthur Tugade.

The ZIA is the third busiest airport in Mindanao after Davao and Cagayan de Oro airports. (PNA)
