SAN DIEGO (AP) – Actors promoting their latest movies and television series are not the only stars of Comic-Con International: thousands of fans who make costumes for the convention give it a unique character .

The four day extravaganza provides amazing pop culture mashups – zombies mingling with the superheroes of various comics and many other custom creations. Where else would security to filter the gear of fans dressed like Ghostbusters? (All false weapons, whether brandished by heroes or villains, are verified.)

Approximately 130,000 people head to the San Diego Convention Center for Comic-Con, which features panels on everything from comics to Hollywood blockbuster movies.
