MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area spotted off Mindanao will bring suffering to a tropical depression, state weather office PAGASA said.

Residents of eastern Visayas will also experience the LPA.

As of 3 a.m. Monday, the weather system was located 405 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The LPA may hit land in Mindanao on a tropical depression on the Sulu Sea, PAGASA weather forecaster Ariel Rojas said.

It will be given a local name "Samuel" when it becomes the 19th tropical cyclone to enter the country in 2018.

Meanwhile, residents of Bicol region and Palawan will experience cloudy and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms at the tail end of a cold front.

Fair weather is expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to the northeast monsoon or amihan. – Gaea Katreena Cabico
