The Nissan GT-R50 from Italdesign could go into production in the form of a £ 800,000 limited edition hypercar, the brand announced.
Due to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later today, the car will enter the limited production of about 50 units if it is received warmly enough by the spectators. Italdesign would be responsible for the production, and each car would present custom elements to each customer.
The GT-R50 was revealed last month as a unique collaboration between Nissan and the design house to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the GT-R and Italdesign.
Based on the GT-R Nismo, the GT-R50 is the first collaboration of Nissan and Italdesign, although the development, engineering and construction of the car were done by Italdesign, while the designs were carried out in Nissan and San Diego design centers. .
No element of the exterior appearance of the car remains intact, including the roofline, which has been lowered by 54mm. It is longer, wider and lower than the Nismo on which it is based.
Golden highlights are used throughout the redesigned exterior, while the original features of the car have been exaggerated and aerodynamically enhanced. This includes a huge, adjustable rear fender.
Performance was improved to fit the prototype state of the car, and the 3.8-liter V6 engine now produces 710 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of 592 horsepower and 481 lb -pi of the GT-R Nismo "regular".
Competition-type turbochargers were mounted, as was a larger intercooler system, adjustable dampers and a crankshaft, pistons, bearings and reinforced rods. Improved intake and exhaust systems also help to reach the 118 hp boost.
Nissan quickly pointed out that the car is not tied to the next-generation GT-R, which is slated for 2020, but would not look as if Italdesign would have a share in the development of the upcoming GT-R. It is expected that this car will have a high-performance hybrid powertrain and will retain its four-wheel drive.
"How often do you ask" What if we create a GT-R without limits? to build it? ", said design boss Alfonso Albaisa." It's a rare window in time when two great moments intersect: 50 years of Italdesign shaping the world of the automobile and 50 years of Excitement generating Nissan through our iconic GT-R.To celebrate this convergence, Nissan and Italdesign have created this custom GT-R to mark 50 years of leadership in engineering.
