The security patch for Google Android 7.0 Nougat from June 2018 has been deployed for Galaxy Note5 devices in the Philippines. This patch will provide several fixes and improvements, including those specific to Samsung devices.
In its monthly Android security update, Samsung has identified three vulnerabilities and Samsung Exposures (EVS) affecting only Samsung devices equipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 7.0 Nougat, and the latest 8.0 Oreo.
Two of these vulnerabilities were listed as critical. One was a buffer overflow and the other a keymaster design defect, and both affect devices running Android 7.0.
The latest update also includes Google security patches that fix at least five critical vulnerabilities, namely CVE-2018-3580, CVE-2018-9341, CVE-2018-5146, CVE-2018-9355, and CVE-2018-9356, according to Samsung.
You should be able to receive a notification that your Note5 phone is ready to update. Alternatively, you can manually update by going to Settings >>> Software Update >>> Downloading Updates Manually .
The June 2018 patch only weighs 26.59 MB and carries the N920CXXS4CRF7 / N920COJV4CRB3 / N920CXXU4CRB2 version. It will not take you long to complete the installation.
