HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has announced that Android 9 is available for the Nokia 6.1 Plus via Nokia phones beta labs starting today. This follows the Nokia 7 Plus, which was the first smartphone running on Qualcomm® Snapdragon 660 to globally roll out the Android 9 Pie late September.
HMD Global Chief Marketing Product Manager Juho Sarvikas said: "To further solidify our leadership and commitment to Android, we are happy to announce that the Nokia 6.1 Plus is the first smartphone globally to offer Android Pie on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform via our Nokia phones beta labs.
This is our first beta version of Android 9 for the Nokia 6.1 Plus early adopters. Over the coming weeks, we will be working with your fast-growing community of beta testers to ensure uncompromised quality ahead of general release. We would like to hear from fans and thank you for their enthusiasm and passion in testing early versions of the most up-to-date Android. "
