Palestinian demonstrator resembling "freedom guiding the people" leaves internet users seduced

The image of a Palestinian protester holding the country's national flag in a thick smog is becoming viral. The image has been tweeted more than 5,000 times, Al Jazeera reported.

You can see a young, shirtless protester holding the Palestinian flag firmly and a sling in his other hand. What amused people the most about this image is its striking resemblance to French painting, 'Freedom guiding the people' by Eugene Delacroix.

The painting of the French Revolution, drawn in 1830, is a historical image of the Parisians who took up arms and who advance under the banner of freedom, equality and fraternity.

The Palestinian photo was taken on October 22 by a photographer from Turkish Agency Anadolu, Mustafa Hassouna. The protester in the photo is a 20-year-old Palestinian, Abu Amro, who is protesting against the Israeli blockade.

The juxtaposition of two protesters is the culmination of this picture where we can see the people behind Amro dressed in heavy protective gear and jackets, while it can be seen in a form rugged. the Al Jazeera reported that Amro belongs to al-Zaytoun district in Gaza City.

This is not his first protest though. He said at Qatar-based media house that he protests every Monday and Friday with his friends. "I was surprised that this photo of me became viral.I attend weekly events, sometimes more.I did not even know that there was a photographer near me." he was quoted as saying.

The image that was taken in Beit Lahiya, in northern Gaza, was sent to him by his peers, who saw it on social media. Amro added that although he did not attend these demonstrations to be clicked, the viral image gave him the motivation to continue to participate in the demonstrations.

The flag that the Palestinian can be seen is the same one that he wears in all manifestations. His friends sometimes make fun of him because he believes that it is easier to throw stones without wearing it. However, a rebel Amro got used to it.

It has been seven months since Palestinians in the Gaza Strip demonstrated against Israel along the fence to claim the dignity of present and future generations. They claim the right to return home and the land from which their families were expelled 70 years ago.

They are also organizing a demonstration against the political besiege of this enclave by Israel, eleven years old. Since March 30, about 205 Palestinians have been killed in the beleaguered coastal enclave including journalists and paramedics. More than 18,000 people have been injured since the start of the Great March of Return events.

The Malian football star Frederic Kanoute tweeted: "Does this seem familiar to you, especially for the French?" so many people have agreed on the similarity between freedom leading the people on a barricade and the corpses of the ousting of King Charles X of France.

The tricolor flag held by a woman symbolizing freedom has become the national flag of France. Others resembled other Greek gods, such as David vs. Goliath and Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea who supported the Greeks against the Trojans during the Trojan War.
