MANILA, Philippines – If you think about it, you will see how 20-year-old singer and songwriter Khalid was snatched from the dark and was hit in the middle of the music scene.

With its hit song "Young Dumb & Broke," the Texan was a blazing success in a day after, with nearly half a billion streams on YouTube.

Born Khalid Donnel Robinson, he has always been interested in music since a young age, but it is in 2017 that he has signed with major music labels, Right Hand Music Group and RCA Records .

But even before winning a contract with a record, his first single "Location" already culminated in 16th place in the charts Billboard Hot 100 American and was then certified quadruple platinum. In 2017, his studio album "American Teen" came out, making him one of the youngest successful producers of his generation.

For the music producers and co-artists he has worked with, Khalid is an old soul that is both poetic and romantic without hope. He cares so much about the gravity and meaning of his words, so that it is reflected in his writing: vulnerable and confessional. His music is romantic with a modern pace and a young spirit, resonating well with the generation of social media.

In an interview, Khalid described his music as his diary of life, where he details all his teenage experiences – love, grief and all the clichés. It is true that his audience, mainly teenagers, can understand his songs. Take "8Teen" for example. It tells the reality of being a millennial lover and how growing up in the digital world can have a severe impact on relationships.

With huge influences from music icons like Frank Ocean, Drake and Kendrik Lamar, his first album "American Teen" is the epiphany of his flawless corpus and a hard voice to compare with anyone in the # 39; industry. In fact, it does not sound like anyone and it's definitely someone we have not heard in a long time.

As part of his "American Teen" Asian tour, the young crooner brought his musical game to Manila on Nov. 2, where an innovative holiday-filled concert was held at the Araneta Coliseum, attended by thousands of his Filipino fans.

The evening's concert was hosted by Careless Music Manila, the underground underground R & B and hip-hop group in Manila, directed by singer and songwriter James Reid. In collaboration with Massiah, Astrokidd, and Curtismith, two hip-hop artists in the group, CMM unveiled its upbeat songs such as "Angelina" and "Extra Rice," highlighting each other's blood and adrenaline before Khalid's occurs.

Khalid created the Big Dome with his hit songs such as "8TEEN", "Winter" and "American Teen". He sang, danced and shouted with his Filipino fans, who also expressed their enthusiasm and support through stopping the dance.

"You are the loudest audience I've ever had. This is by far the loudest night since the beginning of my tour, "said the American singer during his concert, unable to contain his overwhelming emotions of all the love he received on this side of the world .
Contrary to what everyone was expecting, his reminder did not include "Young Dumb & Broke". Instead, he finished his set with "Location", "Keep Me" and "OTW", but it was always a night filled with melancholic melodies. his Pinoy fans will always remember it. After all, it was his first concert in Manila with Midas Promotions.
