Poe states Pulse Asia survey results reflect growing role of women in politics

The recent survey of possible candidates for the 2019 senatorial elections revealed one thing: women have played a large role in politics, a profession formerly dominated by men.

Still a minority in the Senate, five of the first nine senators, including the first four in the Pulse Asia poll, were women, which, Senator Grace Poe says, reflects women's contribution to the building of nation

. Poe, who ran the list, said in a message to reporters

Poe, who was voted by 67.4% of respondents, was followed by Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano (55.7%), fellow Senator Cynthia Villar (50.1%) and Sara Duterte, Mayor of Davao (46.2%) per cent). Senator Nancy Binay was in ninth place (37.1%).

Poe also thanked the Filipinos for their trust, before saying that it is their duty to serve the country.

"We are grateful for the trust of our Kababayans," said the legislator. "We owe our message to the Filipino people, working hard to make their lives better is our chance to pay for it." / Ee
