Psychosocial intervention given to Sulu students displaced by fire

COTABATO CITY – The Department of Education – Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (DepEd-ARMM) provides a psychosocial intervention to students affected by the July 24 conflagration that hit the villages of Busbus and Walled City in Jolo, Sulu

"Initially, we administered psychological first aid to students from the first to the sixth grade so that they could deal with the trauma of the fire," said Attorney Rasol Mitmug, secretary of the ARMM, in an interview Thursday

. According to Mitmug, an initial assessment of the Ministry of Education in Jolo revealed that 92 students were at least concerned, including 92 students from Jolo National High School, 200 students from Sulu National High School, 100 students from the central elementary school Mohammad Tulawie (100) and primary school of Asturias (9).

At the present time, Mitmug stated that DepEd-ARMM was also organizing a donation of relief goods for families affected by Jolo's fire

Reports earlier reports that more than 5,000 families, or about 30,000 people, had been displaced by the fire.

Affected families are currently accommodated five times. evacuation centers, namely: Jolo Municipal Hall, Jolo Tennis Court, Philippine Muslim College, Notre Dame Gym and Busbus Barangay Hall
