Renault Megane R.S. Trophy revealed, with more power and less weight

The Renault Megane R.S. is already a kind of performance beast, but the French company goes even further with a more targeted version – the Trophy.

The car is equipped with a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine developing 296 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. the 276bhp and 390Nm that the standard car boasts. It can be paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the result of all this power is a 0-60 mph time of 5.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 162 mph.

The Trophy also utilizes the optional Megane's Cup chassis, which offers stiffer suspension and a Torsen Limited Slip Differential and enhanced front brakes housed in 19-inch alloy wheels that reduce weight. Unsupplied weight of 8kg

is on the list of options, which are cut in Alcantara and are 20mm lower than before.

There is little external visual indication that it is a trophy, apart from the scratches added to the splitter before F1 inspiration. You'll be able to hear the difference, though, thanks to an upgraded exhaust system with a mechanical valve – allowing the car to be propped up in a calm or arrogant environment.

Fans of Renault's hot hatches are familiar with the nickname of the trophy, which has been applied to the most powerful version of each Megane Renaultsport-notched since the first was introduced in 2004.

The new Renault Megane RS Trophy is expected to go on sale in the fall, with customer shipments beginning in the last quarter of the year. Prices have not been confirmed yet, but expect to know more soon.
