A day after a December 2017 announcement that Senator John McCain had been hospitalized for the "normal effects" of cancer treatment, Arizona Rep. McCain's hospitalization at Walter Reed's National Military Medical Center came amid speculation about his future, following his July 2017 diagnosis with a typically deadly form of brain cancer, known as glioblastoma.

Ducey, a Republican, reprimanded the jockeys behind the scenes for the siege. He and his team, who have been asking questions for months on the issue, said that any discussion is "shameful" since McCain remained a member of the US Senate.

Van Flein said Wednesday that he wanted to hold a meeting "if Congressman Gosar could argue with the governor" given the aggression of McCain's diagnosis, "and that the responsible people needed to make plans for transitions. "

He, too, stated that the meeting did not take place.

Van Flein can not say if Gosar is still interested in an appointment to the Senate seat.
