Tencent Holdings won its legal battle against the creators of "Mobile Legends" for copying "League of Legends" (LoL) from Riot Games.

A parent company of Riot Games, China- Tencent Holdings will receive 19.4 million yuan (about 154 million pesos) from Shanghai Moonton Technology Co., maker of 'Mobile Legends', according to the online gaming site Dot Esports

Riot Games sued Shanghai Moonton in the central district court. California in 2017. The case was dismissed because a court in Shanghai, China, had more jurisdiction over the case. The parent company Tencent will later pursue the case in Shanghai court

The first case of Riot Games cites visual comparisons of heroes, abilities and scenography between LoL and Mobile Legends. At a glance, it's easy to spot the similarities between the two games. Riot Games also compared LoL visuals to another Shanghai Moonton game titled "Magic Rush: Heroes". Riot Games has highlighted characters Annie LoL and Emily's "Magic Rush" for having similar designs and skills.

Shanghai Moonton was originally expected to pay Tencent only 2.6 million yuan (about 20.6 million pesos). The court corrected this amount to 19.4 million yuan (about 154 million pesos) after judging the initial figure insufficient. Tencent also believed that Shanghai Moonton would have won millions of dollars by copying LoL and launching it on the mobile platform.

Meanwhile, another case could occur in the game MOBA (King of Glory). "Also under Tencent," King of Glory "plans to join his parent company and Riot Games to present a separate copyright infringement case against Shanghai Moonton.

In addition to being behind a number of game titles, Tencent Holdings owns the wildly used QQ instant messaging service in China and the WeChat mobile chat service. Alfred Bayle / JB
