KARACHI: The second anniversary of the death of eminent philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi was observed on Sunday.

He was born in Gujrat in 1928 and died on July 8, 2016 in Karachi after a long illness. At the time of death, he was 88 years old. He started social services in 1951 by setting up a small dispensary in the old city of Kharadar, later developing social services, he formed the Edhi Foundation.

After a few years, he became famous for leading the world's largest network of volunteer ambulances. Sattar Edhi has established many institutions not only for the welfare of humans but also for animals around the country, which are run by Sattar Edhi's wife and son.
