MANILA – The Metropolitan Development Authority of Manila (MMDA) will apply the ban on provincial buses on the Avenue of Epifanio delos Santos (EDSA) beginning on 15 August.

MMDA general manager Jojo Garcia said the ban, originally scheduled for August 1, will be imposed all day instead of hours peak morning and afternoon.
"Ang permanent solution natin diyan kapag naipatayo na ang mga permanent terminals outside Metro Manila talagang totally forbidden na ang provincial buses sa Metro Manila. Kasi iyan naman talaga ang design niyan ang talagang papasok diyan ang mga city buses. (The permanent solution once these terminals installed in Outside Metro Manila, provincial buses are now banned in Metro Manila.) It is really conceived that city buses are only allowed to cross main roads.

"There are some lines that we need to change for the convenience of the passengers." We will discuss roads with LTFRB officials on Monday, "said Garcia.
