The prequel to Game of Thrones has an ensemble cast, "strong female characters"

[Showrunner] Jane [Goldman] did not go in [writing the pilot] wanting to answer something about Game of Thrones ; it was the story that spoke to him. It will be very different because it is 8000 years ago, it is a very different context, a very different time in Westeros, it will be different, but still Game of Thrones

the moment: how do you create a successor to a hit show like Game of Thrones that still feels like the original enough to bring in fans but different enough that he has his own identity? Goldman, the screenwriter behind films like Kick-Ass and X-Men: Days of the Future Past may be able to help by bringing a different perspective. For years, the Writers Room Game of Thrones is composed of four guys: David Benioff, Dan Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill. Will giving the reins to a woman make the difference? Deadline wondered if the show would have a female lead. Said Bloys:

There are very strong female characters but it is a set, there [are] men and women. Jane is a very good writer, we do not want to limit her to writing female leads. There are many very complicated tracks in [the pilot].

In other words, it will be like Game of Thrones which offers a rich cast composed of men and women. I think that's how it should be.
