2018 has been one of the most impressive years to date for sci-fi movies. With hits like Annihilation the pleasure of Steven Spielberg Ready Player One and the tons of hits inspired by comics, films that embrace the future, its technology, the aliens, and Space travel are some of the best out there right now. And this trend is far from over. There are plenty of good sci-fi movies in the fall of 2018 that are well worth seeing.
Obviously, we had some great science fiction this summer. If you've been too busy at the theater to watch movies like Solo: A Story of Star Wars or Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom be sure to check out streaming sites like Netflix where You Can See Sci-Fi Movies Like The Action Extinction starring Michael Peña and Lizzy Caplan, and Anon starring Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried in a warning about privacy. Or head to Amazon for science fiction romance Zoe with Ewan McGregor and Léa Seydoux.
Now, however, everyone is about to return to school, return to work, and will not have these summer Fridays to mumble something in the CA. But you will not miss good nerds because here are some of the science fiction movies of the fall to watch.
Replicas (August 24)
August is technically still summer, but this film by Keanu Reeves slips all at the end of the month and seems way too cool not to include it . Reeves plays the role of a man who creates replicated versions of his wife and children when they die in a car accident. If these replicants use downloaded consciousness or copied personalities is not clear, but Keanu seems frightened.
Kin (August 31)
Here's another one to grab right on the brink of summer and fall. From the production team behind Stranger Things and Arrival comes Kin a story that follows the discovery by a young boy of a technology of extraterrestrial type. The film features newcomer Miles Truitt, as well as Zoe Kravitz, Carrie Coon and Dennis Quaid.
The Predator (September 14)
Sterling K. Brown and Olivia Munn are the stars of this sequel to Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1987 alien monster film. In this iteration, Jacob Tremblay accidentally triggers the return of predators to Earth. Yeah, those things are always terrifying.

OK, so this one is technically a true story and biopic of science, but anyone who loves science fiction would love the history of space exploration. Ryan Gosling is the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, in what will undoubtedly be a remarkable performance around the rewards circuit.
